Selected projects and development programmes
Alongside development undertaken for clients, QUANTUMAT initiates and co-develops technology programmes aimed at emerging industrial needs. This portfolio presents selected projects in which we act as initiator, coordinator or a principal development partner. Each applies materials science and engineering to a defined technological objective, from functional materials to devices and their integration. The individual project pages describe the origin, responsibilities and development stage of each collaboration.

DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY STORAGE MATERIALS AND DEVICES
2D-HEBAT
Silicon-based 2.5D anode materials and electrode architectures for lithium-ion batteries. The programme combines materials engineering with electrode preparation and experimental cell testing, investigating capacity and charging performance.
See the project page for its technical scope, experimental development, news and documents.

DEPARTMENT OF QUANTUM MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGIES
QAPROS
Initiated by QUANTUMAT, QAPROS investigates atom-like spin centers in organic and inorganic semiconductor host matrices for future quantum information technologies. It connects materials research, quantum-state characterisation and device engineering.
Room-temperature operation and scalable integration remain research objectives. Collaborations presented on the project page include INSP, MONARIS and IPCM.

CRYOGENIC ELECTRONICS
2D electronics for cryogenic quantum controllers
Characterisation of field-effect transistors with 2D semiconductor channels at very low temperatures, exploring their relevance to future electronic control architectures for quantum systems.
Initiated by Tyndall National Institute, which produces the materials and fabricates the transistors. QUANTUMAT contributes device characterisation, ultra-low-temperature physics, and advice on material and device architecture and optimisation.

DEPARTMENT OF ADVANCED MATERIALS
Advanced materials engineering
Our activities also cover advanced 2D materials, engineered oxide systems and functional formulations. Work in this domain connects composition and microstructure with material form, processing and application requirements.
Explore the domain for our scope in functional nanoparticles, coatings, doped dielectric powders and polycrystalline materials.
Bring us your development challenge
